About the PositionThe Assistant Director for Financial Operations coordinates the housing application and licensing process and financial operations including cashiering, billing and auditing. The incumbent also coordinates front end administration of the residential system database and works closely with campus financial database and information systems. This position directly supervises up to four professional staff and is a member of the Housing Leadership team. The incumbent coordinates the administration of resident accounts and annual license planning cycle.
Required Qualifications- A bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training
- Six years of administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to
the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs
Preferred Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Education or a related field
- Four years of experience working with financial operations
- Three years of experience working in a campus housing or property management environment
- Experience with housing licensing, contracting or leasing
- Professional staff supervision experience
- Experience working in an educational setting
- Experience working with database systems
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities- Knowledge of public administration principles, practices and methods
- Ability to apply this knowledge to complex programs and/or administrative specialties, including
pertinent laws and regulations
- Expertise in and advanced knowledge of the principles, problems, and methods of public and
business administration and operational and fiscal management
- Ability to handle a high degree of customer contact surrounding potentially
emotional/controversial issues and deal with conflict while maintaining a sense of perspective
- Ability to clearly answer questions and explain procedures and policies to students and the
public in an efficient and courteous manner, apply judgment, discretion and initiative in
performing a variety of tasks
- Ability to exercise appropriate judgment and perform duties and responsibilities in the absence
of close supervision
- Ability to perform complex tasks involving independent judgment and ability to plan,
coordinate, and initiate actions necessary to implement administrative or group decisions or
recommendations
- Thorough knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database software
